R's Journal

I feel that Christmas is the most important holiday of the year. Not only because of the festivities and the joy and the colors and the gifts, but because it has a special meaning. It is the celebration of love and care, the special time of family and friends, the days of the year that we remember those that modern life has obliged us to cast aside. The world enters a  "pause" mode. We stop running into an other obligation or chore and find some time to spend with our loved ones.

I know that all of us despair to the possibility that these days we would be alone, unable to be with these special others, in our lives.

This is the case of two women, that modern life separated in two far away places. For four months one lives at Japan, while the other in New Zealand. There was no chance to be together for Christmas, but they made their plans to be united at January.  R. would travel from New Zealand to Japan. And E. has commissioned a special present for her - the journal that you see in the photo below.

When E. was searching the perfect journal, happened to find me on ETSY. She explained what she needed and described R.  for me to understand what she would need. Her words were poetic- she painted R. with the most amazing and vivid colors plus  a hint of mystery, all surrounded by her love and longing for R.

I am an artist. Emotions feed me. Deep emotions like these, ignite me. So along with  R's journal, I made a similar one for E. in mimiature size. And I infused them both with magic. When R. writes in her journal, her sister miniature E.'s journal will became alive. And the link will hold, even if  they are thousands of miles apart. Because love is the fuel of our lives. Without it, we would be nothing. With it, we are more than giants.

Sorry about the photos. They were shoot on a hurry, after midnight. The miniature has everything the original journal has. Same colours, embossing, encaustic finish - even the same quotes.

Thank you E. for the inspiration and spark, your trust and your life lessons.
